Infosys and Australia launch generative AI innovations for the 2025 Australian Open

Infosys, in collaboration with Australia, has unveiled its latest set of features and platforms, powered by AI, for the Australian Open 2025. This launch marks another milestone in their seven-year partnership. The goal is to create a more immersive tennis experience through technological innovations based on artificial intelligence. These advancements, from Infosys Topaz, a pioneering set of generative AI offerings, will transform the way fans engage, while empowering players and coaches, and pushing the boundaries of digital interactivity in the world of tennis.

A notable development is the world’s first generative AI tennis league, called ‘Beyond Tennis’, also led by Infosys. This digital experience, which will operate throughout the year, will allow users to interact with virtual tennis players, form their own teams and participate in AI-generated championships. Fans will have the opportunity to compete against 16 virtual players, divided into eight teams. Designed as “The Slam that Never Stops”, this league aims to strengthen the appeal of tennis among Generation Z, ensuring the safety of young people in digital environments, thanks to a responsible AI framework.

For the 2025 Australian Open tournament, AI will enhance the spectator experience with AI-powered commentary in the Infosys Party Center, available across the event’s digital platforms, as well as on the website and the application. Using advanced language models, this intelligent commentary will provide insightful analysis in real time during each match. The Infosys Fan Zone at Melbourne Park will also be cutting edge with the creation of a new virtual reality stadium, allowing fans to design stunning courts.

With an innovation using a voice-to-image generative function, fans will be able to play on virtual courts inspired by the galaxy, nature or even the 70s. Infosys provides the Australian Open with tools for AI, video analytics, and machine learning solutions. With AI-generated videos, players and coaches will continue to benefit from post-match analysis and pre-match reviews.

Additionally, the “AI Shot of the Day” feature helps the Australian Open media team meet the growing demand for digital content, making it easier to create and share social media-friendly clips to highlight before significant moments of matches. The Infosys Fan Zone at Melbourne Park also remains committed to environmental matters, with a fully offset carbon footprint and fully recyclable infrastructure. Infosys and Tennis Australia also support the “Future Leaders” program, powered by Infosys’ Springboard digital learning platform, which provides participants with opportunities to acquire transferable skills, particularly in areas such as inclusion, leadership, technology and design thinking.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to glimpse the future of generative AI by visiting the Infosys Fan Zone at Melbourne Park.
