This is the news of the day: the Canadian announced this morning that striker Emil Heineman was the victim of a road accident (while he was a pedestrian) in Salt Lake City.
The CH also announced that the striker would miss three to four weeks of activities… But there were not many details concerning the accident and the player’s state of health.
There is additional information starting to emerge, though.
Here’s what you need to know: Heineman was hit by a car while walking alone just before 3 p.m. (Salt Lake City time) and subsequently received treatment from doctors in the Canadiens’ organization .
The main player’s agent said in an interview in Sweden that there may be talk of a broken wrist and that his player would meet with a specialist to determine the exact nature of the injury.
But Emil Heineman’s agent insisted that “it’s nothing too serious”, which suggests that the attacker is relatively good at the time of writing these lines.
Obviously, we agree that it sucks.
It sucks for the organization, for the player… And for the fans, because the striker played his role to perfection in the Martin St-Louis team since the start of the season.
But at least Heineman avoided the worst and that’s what we should remember in the story.
Martin St-Louis joked with journalists by saying that it was more the car that took the shock because of the Swede’s greatness:
Note also that the driver of the car that hit Heineman is an employee of the city of Salt Lake City.
He wasn’t paying attention and collided with the CH player:
Other guys will have to step up during Heineman’s absence – we agree on that point – and it will be interesting to see how the CH goes dealer with this situation in the coming weeks.
Because we must not forget one thing: the Canadian’s 4th trio (Armia, Evans and Heineman) was excellent recently and played a role in the club’s recent successes.
So I can’t wait to see if whoever replaces him between now and his return will be able to be as useful…
Prolongation
Remember that the Canadian will not be recalled for his match this evening in Salt Lake City.
We can expect things to change tomorrow, though…
For this evening, Michael Pezzetta will take Emil Heineman’s place in the lineup. Alex Newhook will be able to play, and Monty will get the start against André Tourigny’s team:
