Several residents of Toulouse had to be confined this Tuesday, January 14, 2025 morning. Half an hour apart, the Pink City suffered from two gas leaks.
First escape near the old prison
The first was triggered on the public highway, following works, around 10:30 a.m., in the Grande Rue Saint-Michel in Toulouse, a stone’s throw from the old prison.
As a reminder, this Toulouse avenue will experience changes such as the arrival of a large, flamingo-style cycle path, as well as a Dutch-style roundabout.
Gas pipes torn, residents confined
“And gas line tearing medium pressure” would have been the cause, according to Sdis 31. The firefighters intervened and set up a security perimeter.
Residents were confined the time of the emergency intervention but also of GRDF, which carried out explosimetric measurements. It was only afterwards that the residents could be freed.
Same problem at La Cépière
Same case, but this time in the La Cépière district. At number 375 route Saint-Simon, another medium pressure gas line was torn following public works, in progress at the Ambroise Paré clinic.
Here again, the residents of the avenue had to be patient, confined, while the firefighters, law enforcement and GRDF intervened.
No casualties is to be deplored in both cases.
