Michelle Gisin and the short poles are over
Aged 31, the double Olympic combined champion has made her decision. From tomorrow, she will concentrate on the giant and the speed disciplines.
The Obwalden will compete this evening in Flachau in the 103rd and final slalom of her World Cup career.
“It’s been more than twelve incredible years in the Slalom World Cup, and I’ve given it my all”she said in a video posted on Instagram.
Michelle Gisin ran her first slalom in December 2012 in Semmering. She has been on the podium 9 times, and won 1 time, in 2020 in Semmering.
Last season, always very consistent, she finished 4th in the general classification of the discipline, however this season, as if she had already made her choice several weeks ago, she showed nothing flashy.
-Given as a possible overall winner of the World Cup, due to her rare versatility, Michelle Gisin also got tired being the only one to compete in all the races on the world circuit.
