Canal+ is carrying out an in-depth overhaul of its offers at the start of 2025. Preferential rates for a shorter period, some price reductions, withdrawal of Paramount+ included, disappearance of 4K UHD and two screens simultaneously for new subscribers without commitment , we explain everything that changes.
New year, new offers for Canal+. We are seeing many changes to the subscriptions offered by the French multimedia group. Some price reductions have been made to improve the attractiveness of the packs, but sometimes in return for the removal of certain content or functionalities. We’ll help you see things more clearly in this summary.
In terms of good news, the basic Canal+ formula without commitment goes from 27.99 to 24.99 euros per month. If you decide to commit for 24 months, the price drops to 19.99 euros monthly for six months, before returning to 24.99 euros monthly. This represents a saving of 30 euros, it’s up to you to see if this compensates for being committed for two years.
Canal+ without commitment: price reduction, but only one screen and more than 4 K
Canal+ Ciné Séries also becomes more affordable if you decide not to commit: the price drops to 34.99 euros per month instead of 39.99 euros. Max Standard, Insomnia and Ciné+ OCS are always included. For Netflix, there is a change, since it is now the Standard formula with advertising which is integrated into the subscription. You have to checkout to upgrade your offer and get rid of advertising.
Faced with competing streaming platforms, which are often without commitment, Canal+ therefore decides to make itself more competitive in this niche. But be careful, new subscribers to these offers also lose certain advantages. For example, Paramount+ is no longer included in these offers (except Canal+ Ciné Séries). To access it, you must subscribe to an additional pack including the video on demand service.
But that’s not all, Canal+ also removes two options which could well cause uproar from users. New subscribers to non-binding offers lose access to the 4K UHD definition, HDR technology and Dolby Atmos audio. For the best image and sound experience, it is now obligatory to commit, a decision which risks causing discussion. In addition, only the offer with commitment allows you to connect simultaneously with two screens. Users without commitment must make do with one screen at a time.
Rat+ Ciné Séries and Rat+ Sport are back
For his part, Canal+ Sport now costs 45.99 euros per monthwithout change in content: access to all the sports channels of Canal+, Multisports and beIN Sports in particular. The Canal+ Friends & Family pack gives way to a new formula called The Total. It is available for 59.99 euros per month for six months, then at 75.99 euros monthly, for a commitment period of 24 months. It includes 4K UHD quality and four screens simultaneously, as well as:
- Canal+ ecosystem: All Canal+ channels, their replays and on-demand programs
- Films and series: Apple TV+, Max Standard, Netflix Standard (2 HD screens), Paramount+ Standard, Insomnia, Ciné+ OCS
- Sport : All Canal+ sports channels (including Live channels), Eurosport 1 and 2 (beIn Sports is not included)
- Divers : Large number of thematic channels, French TNT channels and certain international channels
Finally, Rat+ offers aimed at young people (under 26 years old) are once again offered. Rat+ Ciné Séries and Rat+ Sport each cost 19.99 euros per month, without commitment. The first includes Canal+ and the channels Canal, Max Standard, Netflix Standard with advertising, Paramount+ Standard, Insomnia, Ciné+ OCS and Apple TV+.
The second gives access to Canal+ and Canal channels (including those specializing in sports, such as Canal+ Sport, Foot and Sport 360), Apple TV+, beIN Sports, Eurosport 1 and 2.
