The news was like a bomb: the 70s disco group will perform during the inauguration festivities. Victor Willis, the leader of the group, justified this unexpected choice: “We know that this will not please some of you, however we believe that the music should be performed without political considerations”. The group will notably perform their planetary hit “Y.M.C.A.”, became an anthem of Trump rallies. “Our song is a global anthem that we hope will help bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our favorite candidate lost”said the singer on Facebook.
Carrie Underwood, headliner of the official ceremony
The country star, revealed by American Idol, will sing “America The Beautiful” just before the swearing-in. “I love our country and am honored to have been invited to sing at the inauguration and be part of this historic event”said the singer in a press release. “I am humbled to answer the call in these times when we must all come together in a spirit of unity and looking to the future.” She will be accompanied by the Armed Forces Choir and the U.S. Naval Academy Choir.
