Arsenal fans have been crying out for an attacking signing this January, but in the meantime, they are reportedly close to wrapping up a deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi in the summer.
Zubimendi, currently playing for Real Sociedad, has a release clause of €60 million which Arsenal are looking to trigger. Negotiations are underway, but there is still a way to go, as reported by Sami Mokbel.
It is a good signing for the Gunners, especially given that Jorginho and Thomas Partey are out of contract in the summer.
-Zubimendi has long been a Liverpool target, and is now another one that got away for the Reds.
Mikel Arteta will still be prioritising attacking reinforcements, such as Igor Jesus, in the short-term and in the summer. But it is good news that they are close to finalising a deal for a key target so far ahead of the summer window.
