Ukraine claims ‘most massive’ attack since war began

“Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out the most massive strikes against military targets […] at a distance of 200 to 1,100 kilometers deep in Russia »declared the Ukrainian general staff in a press release cited by AFP on January 14.

As part of the conflict triggered by the Russian military invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, kyiv struck energy and industrial sites in several regions of Russia on Tuesday, causing fires. The Russian Defense Ministry accused Ukraine of having used Western-made long-range missiles for this purpose.

Ukraine has increased air attacks against fuel depots, refineries and military sites in Russia in recent months, with the aim of hindering the logistics of Russian forces fighting on Ukrainian territory. Moscow has promised a systematic response to any Western missile strikes on its soil, and threatened to target the center of the Ukrainian capital or use its new experimental Orechnik hypersonic missile.
