The first full moon of 2025 appeared on the night of Monday to Tuesday. Baptized “wolf moon”, in Anglo-Saxon culture, it was also called the “Yule moon” (editor’s note: a pagan festival), in reference to the winter solstice. But its current name dates back to the publication “Maine Farmers’ Almanac”, which, in the 1930s, took over the names of full moons from the traditions of the North American First Nations (editor’s note: the indigenous peoples of Canada).
Thanks to particularly clear skies, the celestial event was visible throughout Switzerland. A boon for amateur and passionate photographers, who have captured these magical moments. Discover a selection of your most beautiful photos in our gallery above!
