A 37-year-old woman and her two children died this Monday morning in a fire in their house in Pas-de-Calais. The two girls were aged 9 and 16. But two boys aged 11 and 12 managed to escape from the burning house when firefighters arrived.
That day, the father was at work when the first flames appeared, indicates The Parisian.
According to the mayor of the town, it was a neighbor who helped these two young teenagers get out of the house. “He was alerted by an explosion. He took a ladder to get them out through a first floor window.” explains the chosen one.
Origin of fire still unknown
This neighbor also agreed to tell our colleagues about this dramatic night. BFM Grand Lille. “It was impossible to return”begins the one who saw the children “at the edge of the window”. “I saw a little smoke, I took my ladder and then we took them down,” he recalls alongside another neighbor.
Of the “thick black smoke” burst out of the house when they intervened. “We weren’t equipped for it, so we decided to go to the other side, on the roof”adds this resident at the microphone of BFM. Despite their heroic efforts, three people died in the flames. “We did our best”he recalls.
In the community, the shock is enormous. “I have my daughter who is in the same class as the youngest who unfortunately did not survive. We accompanied our daughter, we explained to her, we accompanied her to school”reveals a resident, always in the columns of our colleagues.
For the moment, the reasons for this fire are still unknown.
