Digital price cards save time and increase efficiency

In2Value implemented digital shelf labels (Electronic Sheld Label or ESL) at De Mooij Amsterdam. “These cards display the price like a normal price tag, but are now controlled directly from the internal back office and available electronically,” explains Johan van Arkelue of In2Value.

For customers buying locally from the Amsterdam wholesaler, prices have been chalked on the floor for many years. “However, pricing has become increasingly tedious. Our range has expanded significantly in recent years and we spent up to an hour and a half a day pricing the entire range,” explains Danny de Mooij. The installation of digital price cards is part of a major automation project that De Mooij Amsterdam has been carrying out for two years. “For us, implementing these ESL labels is a relatively small addition to the overall process, but a very useful one. »

“To work efficiently and quickly, ESLs communicate with the warehouse management ERP system. When a pallet is (re)placed, the price and product name are automatically updated. This direct connection with the ERP system also ensures that a change to the price list is immediately applied. This link guarantees maximum efficiency and time savings. In the meantime, we are already busy automating the following processes. »

In2value supplied the digital price cards of the Pricer brand, which is one of the world leaders in the electronic label market. “The technology, battery life and response times of these solutions are unique. In2value provides the entire IT infrastructure, the corresponding mounting hardware and the necessary service,” explains Johan van Arkel. He says the De Mooij Amsterdam project is an excellent representation of what can be achieved. “De Mooij opted for a large version of the price tag to provide customers with additional information about the product. Overall, this is a nice representative project. »

According to van Arkel, digital cards are a boon for fruit and vegetable wholesalers. “The labels are fully synchronized with the back office. The differences between the cash register and the store are therefore a thing of the past. Any (price) change is made within a few minutes, but the country of origin and possible allergens (for processed products) are always up to date. They can also be adapted to the style of the store, by adding a logo or a font. Digital price cards are thus seamlessly integrated into the store! »
