– Charlie Dalin, new winner of the Vendée Globe, will receive 200,000 euros.
Sixty-four days, nineteen hours, twenty-two minutes and forty-nine seconds. It was in this record time that Charlie Dalin shattered by almost ten days the Vendée Globe record established by Armel Le Cléac’h in 2007. A little more than two months to tame the seas on his boat Macif Santé Prévoyance, allowing At 40 year old skipper from Le Havre to win his first world tour. A revenge of sorts for the man who finished second in the 2020-2021 edition when he crossed the line in the lead in front of Yannick Bestaven.
But the latter was credited with 2h31 of compensation for having helped rescue Kevin Escoffier. According to TF1, this allows him to reach a pretty prime of 200,000 eurosfar from what some other athletes can win. Moreover, this bonus had been reevaluated in 2021, because before, it was only 160,000 euros. A modest reward which made the winner of the 2017 edition, Armel Le Cléac’h, say that “compared to the hour spent, it doesn’t pay much”.

800,000 euros in total endowment
The skipper of Banque Populaire drew a comparison with Roland-Garros where “an eighth or quarter-finalist at Roland-Garros who is eliminated wins the same thing”. In the same vein, winner of the last Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar earned 500,000 euroseven if the sum is generally distributed among all his teammates.
In total, according to TF1, the overall prize pool for the Vendée Globe amounts to 800,000 euros. Depending on the classification, the bonuses are decreasing. So, the second who should be, Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa), will pocket 140,000 euros. The third will be awarded 100,000 euros, the fourth 80,000 euros, the fifth 50,000 euros, etc. up to the tenth who will receive 10,000 euros.

The remaining 100,000 euros will be shared between those finishing beyond tenth place. Symbolic, these bonuses are added to the salaries and contracts established, for many, with their sponsors.
