Here it is: the federal subsidy program for the purchase of an electric vehicle has just ended, the funds having been exhausted before the deadline of March 31, 2025.
Published yesterday at 2:37 p.m.
“Zero Emission Vehicle Incentive Program (ZEV) funds are fully committed. Therefore, the iZEV Program is now officially suspended,” we can read on the Government of Canada website on Monday.
If an eligibility assessment request was sent by the dealer before the program was suspended, it will be processed. If this is not the case, “you will not be able to benefit from the incentive”, underlines the government, which recommends contacting your dealer to find out if the request has been sent.
The iZEV Program allowed you to get up to $5,000 towards the purchase of an electric vehicle, and was combinable with the Roulez vert program, from the provincial government.
-This one was also very popular, to the point where it will have to be interrupted from 1is February to March 31, 2025 due to too many requests. Vehicles registered during this period will therefore not be eligible, as will charging stations acquired and installed during this period. Unless otherwise advised, Roulez vert should resume thereafter.
As the program will be phased out gradually until 2027, the amounts issued in 2025 will be lower than those available in 2024.
