Desperate to recruit a replacement for their doctor who retired at the end of December, the mayor of Baigneux-les-Juifs (Côte-d’Or) imagined with a hundred of his inhabitants a three-minute musical clip to highlight his village and attract a new general practitioner, reports France Bleu, Monday January 13.
After 36 years of good and loyal service, Doctor Deschamps retired at the end of December 2024. For several weeks, the 250 inhabitants of Baigneux-les-Juifs (Côte-d’Or) have found themselves without a doctor because the now retired has still not been replaced. Didier Robin, the village mayor, has been working for several months to try to find a new general practitioner. Since September, a banner has even been hung at the entrance to the town with the inscription “Search general practitioner”.
To attract a new doctor, the councilor also decided to make a musical clip entitled “Come and join us in Baigneux!”, to the tune of the song “Lambé an dro” by the group Matmatah and its refrain “Viens suis faire a trip to Lambé!” “The clip really looks professional, whether in terms of mixing or image. It’s not ridiculous, it’s not a caricature of us and we wanted to do that”confided the mayor to France Bleu, Monday January 13.
Municipal services highlighted
The three-minute video aims to highlight the village of Baigneux-les-Juifs. “When we say that we have all the shops in Baigneux, people don’t believe us, so we filmed. We have the chocolate shop, the hairdresser, the pharmacy, the Proxi, the butcher’s and caterer, and also the cafe “, affirms Didier Robin to our colleagues. “We also have services for people, such as the crèche, the educational group, the Marpa (the retirement home) and the family home”he adds.
If the town finds itself without a doctor, it is not necessarily a medical desert, according to the mayor. “We have nurses, a pharmacy, and a few kilometers away, there are health homes in Châtillon, so we can create a medical center with the doctor, even if he is only there two or three days a week “he assures France Bleu. Around a hundred residents and most of the village’s merchants participated in the music video, which could bear fruit in the coming weeks.
