Lebanese President Joseph Aoun hoped that the formation of the Lebanese government would go as smoothly as the process of designating Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, which concluded following the day of binding parliamentary consultations he called for on Friday.

“We have completed the first stage, the second is the formation of the government and I hope that it will happen as easily as the first and quickly, because frankly, great opportunities are available to us at the foreigner,” he told journalists still present at the Baabda presidential palace after the consultations, according to a video relayed by our correspondent Hoda Chédid “They are waiting for us,” he added, indicating that he “. had just spoken to the President of the Italian Council”, Giorgia Meloni did not respond to further questions when asked about his opinion regarding the identity of the new Prime Minister, he simply indicated that he had been chosen by the deputies and that he was. had to “respect their decision”.

In less than a week, Lebanon ended more than two years of presidential vacuum after the election of Joseph Aoun during the parliamentary session of Thursday January 9 and wasted no time in appointing a Prime Minister to replace Nagib Mikati, whose government resigned in 2022 and has since been in charge of current affairs, against a backdrop of political tensions and a multidimensional crisis.
