Australian Open > Novak Djokovic to a journalist at a press conference: “I won’t answer you”

Jostled by the young American, Nishesh Basavareddy, on the occasion of his entry into contention this Monday at the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic was notably able to rely on the valuable advice of his new coach, Andy Murray, before the start of the fourth set.

A sequence which has logically gone around the web as it still seems surreal.

Asked about the content of this discussion during his post-match press conference, the Serb obviously refused to answer before returning to this new collaboration which is causing so much talk.

“Unfortunately, I will not answer you, because this will remain between us. But yes, we try to communicate a lot on and off the pitch. Before the match we talked. Before the warm-up, before the match itself. Five minutes ago we talked about the match, how I feel, how he thinks I played and what to do on the training pitch tomorrow etc. I think communication is the key to understanding each other and finding the formula that really works. That’s what we’re trying to do. Since we haven’t spent much time together, we are still in this first learning phase. It was only our first match together. »
