The pace of updates for The Elder Scrolls Online does not slow down and ZeniMax Online Studios has just given new details about update 45, which is expected to be released in March. The opportunity to take stock of all the expected new features, and there will be plenty to do.
New challenges in Fallen Banners
The Elder Scrolls Online update 45 and DLC Fallen Banners arriving March 10 on PC/Mac and March 25 on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. As usual, the base game update is free, but an ESO Plus subscription is required to access and play the expansion Fallen Banners. Fallen Banners introduces two new four-player dungeons
Redoubt of Exile
As the Alliance War continues to ravage Tamriel, Imperial Battlemage Lucilla asks you to help her investigate the inexplicable disappearances of soldiers. Infiltrate alongside him the stronghold of the once-glorious House Albus and foil a plot that could condemn the people of Cyrodiil to endless conflict.
Lep Seclusa
The shrine of Lep Seclusa is under siege, and its Elder Scrolls are threatened. Your group will have to defend the priests of the Phalene and their precious relic against the sinister Orpheon the tactician and his army of deserters.
According to Zenimax, these two dungeons feature unique storylines, characters, challenges (including unique boss fights), and secrets. As you complete these dungeons, you’ll also discover unique rewards, including item sets and collectibles available only during these specific encounters.
What’s new in update 45
Update 45 will allow you to experience the first testing stage of the new Cyrodiil Champions PvP campaign. Those who participate will be assigned a specific class with predetermined skills, attributes, and items. This will be an opportunity to see how the server reacts to simplified capabilities and gather data so that we can plan for the future of Cyrodiil.
During this test, seven Cyrodiil champion classes are available and access to certain features is blocked, including items not included in the class templates. During a campaign, all competitors have the same power level: it’s all a question of skill.
Refreshing the starting areas
Good news, the starting zones of Betnikh, Stros M’kaï, Morneroc, Bal Foyen and Khenarthi’s perch have been refurbished, and their visual appearance now more closely matches that of recent ESO content like Western Weald of Gold Road or the Telvanni Peninsula.
These starting zones have been improved in terms of terrain transitions, materials, lighting and atmosphere. Signs and banners were positioned to better highlight services (like craft locations or banks), and lighting was adjusted to better define important paths and other retail areas. Everything should seem much more alive than before.
Update 45 will bring many other new features that will improve the overall experience of The Elder Scrolls Online, but while we wait for the full patch notes, here are a few more:
- Converting disguises into collectibles
- Custom waypoint colors
- Improvements to mounts (notably movement speed)
- It is no longer necessary to equip crafting stars (the green ones) from the Champion System to benefit from their effects
- The value of Mundus Stone bonuses is now more visible
- Tamriel Map Improvements
