Klopp takes his place in the stands for the RB Leipzig match

Leipzig – Jürgen Klopp made his first appearance as Red Bull’s Global Head of during a football match at his new employer’s home ground in Leipzig. On Sunday afternoon, Klopp took a seat between Leipzig Sporting Director Marcel Schäfer and Technical Director Mario Gomez during the home match against Werder Bremen.

Before kick-off, Schäfer praised his future seatmate. “I maintain that it is an absolute king transfer,” Schäfer said before the match on DAZN. “We are all really excited here in Leipzig for Jürgen Klopp because he will really help us and everyone else with his expertise, his experience and his great passion for football.”

Klopp’s previous public appearances

This was not Klopp’s first public appearance since announcing his new role. According to media reports, the 57-year-old attended a German Ice Hockey League match on Friday evening, where EHC Red Bull München took on the Fischtown Penguins from Bremerhaven. The next day, he was spotted alongside Gomez and former Brazilian star Rai at FC .

Since January 1, Klopp has been the global head of football for the Austrian drinks company. In addition to RB Leipzig, he is responsible for clubs in Salzburg, New York, Brazil and Japan. The company also has stakes in Leeds United and Paris and is a financial shareholder for FC Turin and Atlético Madrid. On Tuesday, Klopp is expected to be officially introduced in his new role at Red Bull at a major press conference in Salzburg.
