PSG transfer update: Nuno Mendes makes radical decision regarding his future

Strongly expected to extend his contract until June 2029, Nuno Mendes would have made a radical decision concerning his future at PSG. The Portuguese defender expresses a desire for new challenges.

Considered a cornerstone of the Parisian defense, Nuno Mendes seemed destined for a contract extension. Discussions were progressing well last fall. Contrary to expectations, the situation took a dramatic turn. The young left back, aged 21 and known for his explosiveness and his youth, is now less inclined to continue his adventure in .

According to information from BTR , the former left back of Sporting Portugal has already informed his management of his decision not to renew his contract. This refusal places Paris Saint-Germain in a dilemma: sell it this summer or risk losing it for free in 2026.

Through his agent, the player has explicitly expressed his desire to join Manchester United, where he could potentially reunite with his former manager Ruben Amorim, who first introduced him to professional football at Sporting.

With the physical fragility of Lucas Hernandez, PSG will probably want to keep Nuno Mendes at least until the end of the current season. However, to avoid a situation similar to that of Kylian Mbappé, the capital club could consider a transfer for the Lisbon native during the next summer transfer window. If this departure materializes, PSG could expect a significant financial return.

Bought for 45 million euros in the summer of 2021, Nuno Mendes is now valued at over 60 million euros, an amount that Manchester United could be willing to invest. However, this financial compensation may not be enough to fill the sporting void. Luis Campos will have to find a quality replacement to strengthen Luis Enrique’s squad. Stay tuned for updates…
