For the first time since October 19, Bergerac Périgord Pourpre Handball did not lose in the championship. Almost three months after its draw against Le Pouzin (24-24), BPPH shared the points again, Saturday January 11, in Celles-sur-Belle. A draw that looks like a victory given the caliber of the opponent. But which could have turned out even better since the Bergeracoises led fifteen seconds from the final buzzer.
In the first minutes, the Deux-Sévrian spectators only had eyes for Romane Lehuault-Parc, the new local recruit. Four high-class saves from the start showed the full potential of the young goalkeeper (19 years old). Not enough, however, to make the difference in the face of the anger of the Bergeracoises, eye-catching in all sectors (5-5, 17th).
Led by Géidy Macéo-Infante (three out of four on shots) and their goalkeeper Lisa Stritt, Fabien Vedel’s players even took control of the match without complexes, facing Celloises who were too clumsy on shots (6-9, 23rd ). Only Lehuault-Parc kept the red ship afloat, battered by the opposing waves. A goal from Cloé Delavaud even gave BPPH a four-goal lead (8-12, 27th).
Local revolt
And the rest of the program did not begin under the best auspices for the Celloises, despite the success of Semelier. Magdalena Fernandez Agusti got the better of the local defense, Stritt made the saves at the right time, and Bergerac kept its lead (15-18, 44th).
We finally had to wait until the last minutes to finally see a little madness in this match. Petiot sparked the local revolt, followed by Briemant and Dos Reis. Bergerac only had a tiny margin (24-25, 58th). But the BPPH did not give up and the achievement of Lou Le Bechennec, from afar, seemed to definitively settle the matter in the final minute (25-26, 59th). Unfortunately no. Briemant rose above the defense to find the target fifteen seconds from time (26-26).
Despite this good result, the Bergeracoises remain in an uncomfortable position but have joined a large group of five teams with 12 points, from 9th to last place, to which also belong Bouillargues, Le Pouzin, Vaulx-en-Velin and Rennes, who will be in Louis-Aragon on Saturday January 18.
He said
Fabien Vedel (Bergerac coach). “We built the match as we wanted, by causing problems for Celles-sur-Belle. It was their return after a two-month break, we had played last week. We wanted to demonstrate that we had a little more rhythm. We managed to do it for 59 min 43 sec. When we look at the performance, the result and the opponent, we will have to be proud of this draw. It will be very useful in building our season. We can only say that it is a reference match in commitment. We were tough for sixty minutes, even if we took too many disciplinary sanctions. »
