This 16th season therefore resumes with the one we associate with Séraphin – or perhaps now with Éric Bonin in the series Dumas. The actor originally from Trois-Rivières — and who grew up in Ottawa — offered us a very eclectic, but still romantic, musical universe, undoubtedly revealing a part of his personality.
Let’s first return to the classic opening medley concocted by musical director Jean-Benoit Lasanté and his team. On stage, we saw Marc Thibaudeau — who taught him the guitar, Yves Jacques, Lunou Zucchini, Pilou, Gildor Roy, Ève Landry, Robin-Joël Cool and his sister Geneviève Leclerc, to the great delight of the guest of the evening.
Moreover, this potpourri of titles by Jean-Jacques Goldman, Bleu Jeans Bleu, Bryan Adams, Tragically Hip, Jean Leloup, K-Maro, Traveling Wilburys and several others set the table for the future.
Very endearing, Vincent also let himself be lulled by Fabien Cloutier who delivered his version of You let yourself goby Charles Aznavour, with a casualness that pleases the guest of the evening.
Rock and… Séraphin
Bruno Pelletier appeared on Enter Sandman by Metallica, accompanied on guitar by Jean-Benoit Lasanté. An electrifying performance as possible. I would even say stunning!
Pelletier is therefore one of my favorite rock voices.
Vincent’s most important project was certainly The countries above.
Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin presented Michel Corriveau, who set the cult series to music, and musician Pierre Tourville, who offered him the musical score of the Country above while his partner, the actress Mélanie Pilon, magnificently interpreted La vie en roseeye to eye.
This was a wonderful moment of tenderness, but did Vincent expect Mélanie to literally transform into a rock beast on a Rage Against the Machine song?
The surprise was total!
Family and holiday camp
His aunt Marie Leclerc took up the guitar to perform With the left handa moment of fragility that made Vincent break down. “What an invigorating and vigorous shovel in the face,” he said, still in shock.
Elliot Maginot and Ingrid St-Pierre took the stage to deliver a great interpretation of Mommy, by Pauline Julien, to then give way to her friends from Camp Nominingue who gathered for the first time in 30 years. Around a campfire, they sang Teach Your Children.
His father Antoine Leclerc personalized The ballad of happy people for his son, another moment which greatly moved the actor.
A touch of jazz
Her friend Tanya Henri went there with the guilty pleasure of Vincent Leclerc, Baby One More Timeby Britney Spears, in a jazzy version accompanied by the show’s singers.
Then the actress Catherine Souffront made us discover her immense talent as a singer in her version of Feeling Goodalso supported by all the singers gathered on the set.
Finally, Ingrid St-Pierre returned with some notes from Lunch in peace while the end of the evening gave rise to a beautiful tribute to Julien Poulin, who died last week, whom Vincent rubbed shoulders with in The Lands above.
Next week, we will be in the world of comedian P.-A. Méthot.
