Nothing Outstanding: Lee Soon-jae Wins the Prize at the 2024 KBS Drama Awards

There was nothing unusual about this. The grand prize of the 2024 KBS Drama Awards went to actor Lee Soon-jae, who received the honor as expected.

This November 11, KBS 2TV recorded the “2024 KBS Acting Awards Ceremony”, which was held on October 31 at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. Present as hosts were Jang Sung-gyu, Seo-hyun of the group Girls’ Generation and Moon Sang-min.

Before the awards began, Jang Sung-kyu expressed his sadness when discussing a recent tragedy, saying, “Recently, we were all affected by a tragic accident. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the victims and bereaved families of the Jeju Air plane disaster.” Seo-hyun and Moon Sang-min also added their thoughts to this tribute.

Furthermore, the live broadcast of the “2024 KBS Acting Awards” initially scheduled for 7 p.m. was canceled, and the show was rebroadcast after the drama of October 29.

The winning actors also expressed their condolences. Kim Yong-gun, awarded for his role in “Dogsori,” commented: “This event was a moment of celebration, but I feel great sadness.” Others, like Yeon-woo from the same series and Park Ji-hoon from “Fantastic Love,” also paid tribute.

Shin Hyun-joon fondly remembered the late Kim Soo-mi, sharing that she was a great support during the filming of “The Iron Family.” He expressed his longing and wishes that she would not feel alone in paradise.

Ham Eun-jung, winner of the Excellence Award for “We Are Suzy,” paid tribute to her deceased mother. She shared how important this award was to her and to the project she loved so much.

As expected, Lee Soon-jae won the honorary prize. In thanking KBS, he spoke of his journey and the relationships that unite him with the channel, noting that “this great reward is the fruit of a long journey.” He also gave a nod to the need to evaluate actors’ talent beyond stardom.

Lee Soon-jae expressed his gratitude to his students at Gachon University and shared the impact they have had on his teaching career. His thanks aroused strong emotion among his colleagues.
