The Limoges public prosecutor’s office confirms this Friday, January 10 that a judicial investigation has been opened for involuntary homicide after this dramatic accident which occurred on New Year’s Eve in Limoges.
A 26-year-old man lost his life in a collision between two vehicles, going down Rue Détaillée, around 4:30 a.m. on January 1, 2025. The car in which he was, a Peugeot Capture model, crashed. ended up in an electric meter which caught fire, according to information provided a few days later in the police’s call for witnesses.
Three other people were on board: two men aged 23 and 26 were transported to Limoges University Hospital in absolute emergency and a 19-year-old woman in relative emergency. Their lives would no longer be in danger.
According to firefighters, the occupants of the car had been removed from the car by witnesses to the accident, before their arrival. The vehicle then caught fire. Twenty-four firefighters were mobilized to the scene.
After these events, according to our information, a motorist presented himself to the police. This Wednesday, the Limoges public prosecutor’s office confirmed that a judicial investigation was opened for involuntary homicide and that a person was placed under judicial supervision.
Justice did not wish to comment further on the investigation, but speed is an element which will be studied in this case, as well as the conditions in which the second vehicle hit the one which ended its course in the electric pole.
