Floods in Guichen: the peak of December 2019 exceeded, the decline promises to be slow

The heavy rainfall which fell on Ille-et-Vilaine forced the municipality of Guichen (Ille-et-Vilaine) to trigger the municipal protection plan in the face of the risk of flooding, Wednesday January 8, 2025. Since Wednesday January 8, 1 p.m., when the level was 2.43 m, the level has continued to rise. Indeed, twenty-four hours later, it was 2.85 m. A peak between 2.82 m and 3.16 m in height was even expected around midnight. Finally, the water reached 3.10 m. The continuous rains did not allow a decrease and at 4 p.m., this Friday, January 10, the level was 3.45 meters. Data which allows us to affirm that the water level exceeded that of December 22, 2019. At that time, 3.38 meters of water had been recorded. This resulted in the town being recognized as being in a state of natural disaster.

Even if it should not rain again for several days, the decline will not occur as quickly as that. On its website vigicrues expects a peak between 3.33 and 3.78 m on Saturday January 11 at 11 a.m.
