“In the morning rush hour, the enemy attacked Donetsk and Svetlodarsk,” Moscow-installed leader of the Donetsk region Denis Pushilin wrote on Telegram.
According to him, a Ukrainian strike hit a residential building in Svetlodarsk where a woman was killed and four residents were injured.
Another attack, carried out using American-made HIMARS rocket launchers, hit a supermarket in Donetsk, also damaging nearby buildings and administrative buildings, according to Mr. Pushilin.
This strike “left two civilians dead and two injured,” said the Russian Investigative Committee, cited by the public news agency RIA Novosti.
Large parts of the Donetsk region, and the neighboring Luhansk region, have escaped Ukraine’s control since an armed pro-Russian separatist rebellion led by Moscow in 2014.
Russia, which launched its troops to attack Ukraine in February 2022, claims the annexation of these two regions, as well as that of two regions in the south of the country which it partially occupies, in addition to the peninsula. of Crimea annexed in 2014.
