Frimpong Manso takes reins as Black Starlets head coach

The Ghana Association has officially announced the appointment of coach Stephen Frimpong Manso as the new head coach of the under-17 men’s national team, known as the Black Starlets.

Holding a prestigious CAF License A coaching certificate, Manso’s credentials are impressive and a testament to his abilities on the field.

Nana Kweku Agyemang and Jacob Nettey will continue in their positions as assistant coaches, bringing stability to this young team.

This strategic move by the Ghana Football Association underlines its confidence in Manso’s ability to evolve Ghanaian youth football, with the aim of restoring its power status in Africa and beyond.

Manso has a wide coaching portfolio, having managed various clubs including Stade d’Abidjan, Asante Kotoko, Karela United, BA United, Kessben FC, currently known as Medeama SC, and Nkoranza Warriors.

Currently, he is the head coach of Premier League side, Bibiani Gold Stars, where he has made a significant impact.

Notably gifted at identifying and mentoring emerging talent, coach Frimpong Manso previously led the U17 national team from 2009 to 2010 having previously served as an assistant coach.

Additionally, between 2006 and 2008, he provided his expertise as assistant coach of the Black Meteors, Ghana’s national men’s under-23 team.

In addition to his coaching accolades, Frimpong Manso is a former player for the senior national team, the Black Stars, where he represented his country from 1986 to 1995.

He also spent a remarkable eight years with Kumasi Asante Kotoko, before making the jump to Kuwaiti club Al Shabab. During his playing career he was well respected as a strong defender.
