The new mayor of Chièvres, Zoë Delhaye, takes off for her first vows

For his part, the acting general director, Arnaud Delcourt, spoke of the challenges awaiting municipal services in 2025, in particular the reforms announced in the local civil service and the potential end of statutoryisation.

For the first time, the City of Chièvres organized its greetings from municipal staff under a new “afterwork” formula. Nearly 170 people were present, a sign of the enthusiasm for this change desired by the new majority. It was in a friendly atmosphere that Mayor Zoë Delhaye, newly elected on October 13, made her very first wishes.

Highlighting the remarkable work of the snow removal works department, the mayor wanted to thank each member of the staff for their essential role in the smooth running of the City. “Each of you occupies an essential place in the cockpit or in the cabin, whether you are at the front or near the rear aisles. You are the co-pilots, the technicians, the hostesses and stewards who ensure that our journey goes well. takes place in the best conditions.”

The mayor also spoke of the change of direction that the new majority wants to instil within the municipality. “The coming year promises to be a long haul towards a destination where the policy pursued will be more participatory, more attentive, more responsive and sufficiently innovative to respond to the changes of the times”. Zoë Delhaye thus detailed the challenges that will punctuate this year 2025 such as security around schools and nurseries, the modernization of the works department, the continuation of PFAS and Boucle du Hainaut files, support for the missions of the CPAS and the promotion of professional reintegration, sustainable financial management for the future of the City or even strengthening collaboration with the Chièvres air base.

Aware of the situation of the municipalities, she also warned of the difficulties that could be encountered. “There will be headwinds, areas of turbulence, and sometimes adjustments to be made to our trajectory. But what makes a crew strong is its ability to work together, with confidence and loyalty, to communicate and stay the course, even when conditions are difficult.”

Speaking following the mayor, the acting director general Arnaud Delcourt focused on the challenges awaiting municipal services in 2025. First recalling the significant events of 2024, such as the delicate issue of PFAS, the discovery of an unexploded shell on the Chièvres military base, the difficulties encountered in certain municipal buildings or even the organization of the two elections of the year, he thanked each member staff for their work. “I would like to thank each of them for their investment and professionalism”he declared.

Arnaud Delcourt then spoke of the challenges awaiting municipal services in 2025, in particular the reforms announced in the local civil service and the potential end of status. “However, I have no doubt and I have complete confidence in our services which have the necessary skills to respond to these changes”he said.

The general manager insisted on the importance of the well-being of the teams during this transition period. “A healthy and respectful work environment is the key to our collective success. We will need to further encourage our collaborations and synergies where each voice should be heard and each agent valued”he stressed.
