The last defeat of Bergerac Périgord Pourpre Handball caused great frustration for Fabien Vedel, the coach. Even a few days later: “It remains a missed opportunity, which must develop in us a feeling of revenge, the desire to prove things to ourselves. »
After this defeat at home against a direct competitor, the situation is worrying for the BPPH, which has only won one championship match, the first, on September 14 against Bègles (26-21). Since then, the Bergeracoises have had a draw and six defeats in all competitions and are relegated.
“I wish we had more points. We can’t claim more than what we got at the moment, but I hope it’s not indicative of the level of the team. We have not yet found this benchmark match where everyone in the team is fully invested and can achieve things to be consistent over sixty minutes,” explains Vedel, who calls for patience.
-Stay focused
“We must not stop at the result, the work we have done is with a long-term objective. And we only played eight days. » The BPPH will, however, have to face a real challenge on Saturday January 12, with the trip to Celles-sur-Belle.
The Deux-Sévrien club, administratively relegated to D2 in 2023, was able to bounce back and maintain its ambitions. Enough to finish third last year and are currently in fourth place with only one defeat, against the leader Clermont. “It is a stronghold of women’s handball, solid in D2, which has the means to achieve its ambitions to one day return to LFH,” judges Fabien Vedel.
Celles was exempt last weekend and will therefore experience its return match. “We don’t play the same championship. But we are playing the same match. And in a match, it will be difficult, but we can fight. It will be a defensive meeting, with a lot of determination and commitment. It will be who manages the important moments best,” the coach finishes.
