The Switch 2 crystallizes all the expectations of players. Nintendo remains very discreet about it and during CES 2025, accessory manufacturer Genki unveiled a reproduction of the console based on its real design. Except that this would not be the case, as the Japanese company itself claims.
- Nintendo told the Sankei Shimbun that the images of the Switch 2 shown by Genki at CES 2025 “are not official”
- The reproduction exhibited at CES 2025 and presented as based on the Switch 2 has not been confirmed by Nintendo
- The firm remains silent on the design and performance of the future console
The reproduction of CES 2025 caused a lot of talk, particularly because Genki claimed that it was based on the real Switch 2. But in the columns of the Japanese newspaper Sankei Reservoirwhich is one of the largest daily newspapers in the country, Nintendo took the floor to comment on these images.
Images of the Switch 2 at CES 2025 are not official
This is an unprecedented statement since until now, Nintendo has never communicated about the Switch 2 or commented on leaks. The Japanese firm has just confirmed the existence of a future console and its backward compatibility. Otherwise, the company remains silent.
In the columns of the Japanese newspaper Sankei ReservoirNintendo declares about the reproduction presented by Genki at CES 2025 that “images and videos in circulation are not official“. The statement, however, remains vague and does not indicate whether the design is that of the Switch 2 or not. By “not official”, it is possible that the firm is talking about the fact that these are not its images prepared to illustrate the Switch 2 when it is released.
-In short, all images and videos of the Switch 2 should be taken with a grain of salt, even the new visual renderings published by OnLeaks via 91mobiles which is a reliable source. Nintendo has not shared anything about its future console and obviously, fake photos are circulating online.
Ditto for the leaks about its technical sheet. For example, it is said that the Switch 2 will be as powerful as a PS4 Pro. It is about a big update for Nintendo since the current generation is aging in terms of performance. In short, this new generation is long overdue by players who have high hopes.
