Will the people of Bordeaux do better than the 100,000 stuffed animals thrown onto the ice during an American hockey match? In any case, for around ten years, the traditional « Teddy Bear Toss »or “Operation Plush Toys”was exported to Mériadeck and to numerous French ice rinks. The principle is simple: a throw of stuffed toys in the middle of a match for hospitalized children. This tradition will be honored again this Friday, January 10 during the meeting between the Boxers of Bordeaux and the Eagles of Nice. All supporters are invited to bring a soft toy in excellent condition. On the night of the match, 350 soft toys will also be available for salee at the price of €2 at the Boxers boutique, located on the first floor of the ice rink. Then it will be enough to throw them on the ice after the first goal of the Bordeaux hockey players. If no goal is scored by the Boxers during the first 40 minutes, the stuffed animals will be thrown at the end of the 2nd third.
A charitable operation
The stuffed toys collected will be donated to the association Pink Blouseswho works with children hospitalized in different establishments in Bordeaux. While caring for children, during treatment or during convalescence, the association brings them comfort and conviviality thanks to fun and manual activities, games, and of course, soft toys.
A new sold-out match
This 35th day of Synerglace League Magnus will once again be played in front of a packed Mériadeck ice rink. For the Boxers, it will be a question of moving on after two defeats against Rouen and Grenoble at the end of the year. The Bordelais returned to the ice of Cergy-Pontoise to get the year off to a good start. Faced with the ninth in the ranking, the Girondins, third, have a great opportunity to achieve a second success. Let’s hope that the first goal arrives quickly to see a magnificent collective throw of fluff!
