World leader in broadcasting live operas to cinemas, the Metropolitan Opera of New York continues its live season (THE MET : Live in HD) with the brand new production ofAida signed by the director Michael Mayer (with imposing settings and animated images recreating the splendor of Pharaonic Egypt, that of the New Kingdom).
It replaces the previous production by Sonja Frisell, on display for 36 years which attracted more than 260 performances. The soprano Angel Blue sings the title role for the first time (Aida, the beautiful slave prisoner at the Court of Pharaoh, loved by the Egyptian general Radamès…). Acting performed at the Met under the musical direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
