Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin announced that the leaders of the “Ramstein” group countries agreed on plans to support Ukraine until 2027 and revealed new US aid to Ukraine in the amount of 500 million dollars. Austin made this statement while opening the meeting of the Contact Group for Defense Support of Ukraine, held on January 9 at the German base “Ramstein”.

During this meeting, coalition leaders approved eight “road maps” for support for Ukraine until 2027, the Pentagon said in a statement.

“We, the co-leaders of the eight capabilities coalitions, have worked with Ukraine to develop roadmaps to optimize efforts to provide security assistance to Ukraine in each capability area, to strengthen robust defense and deterrence capabilities, as well as to foster Ukraine’s interoperability with NATO,” the statement said.

The document also specifies that these roadmaps represent a significant step forward in the support to Ukraine by the coalition countries, which plan to work closely with Ukraine until 2027. This cooperation will focus on the identification of needs future military support, provision of aid packages, procurement assistance, investment in efforts to strengthen defense and development of industrial base capabilities. This also includes the involvement of local production and support for the Ukrainian defense industry.

The coalitions intend to continually improve and integrate these plans to meet Ukraine’s urgent and long-term needs, “so that it can defend against and deter future Russian aggression.”

Austin also announced a new US military aid package to Ukraine, amounting to $500 million. This is the 74th batch of military equipment provided by President Joe Biden’s administration from the U.S. Department of Defense stockpile since August 2021.

According to the Pentagon, this lot includes:

  • Tank bridge layers;

  • Small arms and ammunition;
  • Spare parts, support equipment, services, training and transportation.

North Korea is studying modern methods of warfare. They don’t value their soldiers. To date, they have lost 4,000 people,” Zelensky said at the 25th meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine, held at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
