Fires in Los Angeles: “We are heartbroken for Los Angeles”, Lakers game postponed

The Lakers were scheduled to play the Charlotte Hornets this Thursday, but due to the devastating fires in Los Angeles, the match was postponed.

The match from Los Angeles Lakers foreseen THURSDAY against the Charlotte Hornets is postponed due to fires which have been raging since Tuesday in the megacity, the famous NBA franchise announced Thursday morning.

“We are heartbroken for Los Angeles. Our thoughts are with those affected by this unimaginable situation […] “Tonight’s game will be rescheduled to focus on the most important things today,” the Lakers wrote in a statement, without giving a new date.

LeBron James’ Lakers must then face Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs in their home arena on Saturday and then Monday. The Los Angeles Kings hockey team, which shares its venue with the Lakers, had its Wednesday game also postponed.

At least five people are deaths in the fires which, fanned by violent winds, have raged since Tuesday in Los Angeles, forcing tens of thousands of residents to flee and destroying many buildings.
