Abus and Kryptonite bike locks at discounted prices

Looking for a new lock (or an additional lock) for your bike? The sales period is favorable for equipment. Here are some great deals we spotted.

A solid chain for less than €35

Bicycle chains designed from reinforced steel links (here 3t manganese) 7 mm thick already offer a good level of protection for your bike. This model offered by Kryptonite (tested here by us) measures 85 cm long, which is quite practical – including for attaching an e-bike with a larger frame. A length that also allows you to attach your wheel, which – coupled with a U – allows you to really secure your bike.

The lock closes on the last link of this chain to reinforce the security of the attachment, while a textile protection will prevent scratching the frame of your bike during handling. With a weight of 1.59 kg, this chain is easy to carry in a backpack or attached to your bike. Usually sold for around fifty euros, it is currently offered by Amazon at the attractive price of €34.50.

The reference for folding locks in 120 cm

In the category of folding locks (also known as “segment”), the Bordo Granit 6500K from Abus is one of the references. It must be said that with its rods and its case made of case-hardened steel, it achieves the highest rating on the Abus resistance scale (15/15). A resistance that we ourselves were able to put to the test during the test of the Granit XPlus 6500K in 85 cm long.

This great offer concerns the 120 cm long model, currently sold for €117.53 at Amazon. This longer version is generally sold for around €150 (€180 at list price). Ideal for attaching large bikes, having more room to secure your bike almost anywhere, or even in certain cases attaching your wheel or a second bike.

The essential U Kryptonite New York at €115

This U lock is one of the icons of the segment, having helped establish Kryptonite as a benchmark on the market for “U” format bicycle locks. With a safety rating of 9/10 on the Kryptonite scale, it confirms its potential with a hardened steel handle 26 cm long and 10.2 cm wide, which will provide enough ease to attach your bike almost everywhere. The handle in question is made of a 16 mm diameter bar (a bit less sturdy than the 18 mm of the Kryptonite New York Lock M18-WL that we tested).

Kryptonite delivers 3 keys with this model which benefits from a patented double locking lock and a very solid cylinder, which also makes it more resistant to picking or drilling. It weighs 2.20 kg. This model, usually sold for around €140 (€179 in list price), is currently offered by LePape for less than €115.

Small but clever, the Kryptonite Mini 7 Flex for less than €50

In the Kryptonite family there are also small models. The Mini 7 Flex is interesting in more than one way: it is compact, but it also comes with a cable which allows you to improve the security of your bike (by taking the front wheel and/or securing an accessory along the way). , like a helmet). A lock which will not be suitable for electric bikes due to the too short length of its handle (17.8 cm, for 8.3 cm wide), but which could be a valuable ally when traveling by traditional bike.

This is not a model that we have tested to date, but on the other hand a member of the editorial team uses it very regularly and is perfectly satisfied with it. It also has the advantage of remaining quite light for a U (1.43 kg). Its Kryptonite security rating is honorable: 7/10. It is currently offered by Monoprix at the very good price of €48.93.
