The star striker Liverpool chose to replace Darwin Núñez

As is the custom with every transfer window, speculation surrounding Darwin Núñez’s possible departure from Liverpool continues to circulate, often without any real substance. Parting ways with the club this time around would be particularly painful for him, especially given Liverpool’s strong chances of winning the Premier League title, which they have dominated since the start of the tournament. Additionally, they are also top of their group in the new Champions League format.

From Darwin Núñez’s recent struggles at Liverpool to the fantastic praise of teammate Mohamed Salah, the contrasts are stark. As Referí reported on Tuesday, Egyptian superstar and Liverpool’s best player, Mohamed Salah, gave an interview to ESPN Brazil where he had nothing but compliments for the Uruguayan.

“I really like Darwin; I appreciate the way he plays because it also lights up my game, making me better and pushing me to do more than just score goals,” Salah began.

He continued: “He’s still running, and I’m still trying to find him. This is my favorite option because it broadens my mind. You must always watch the ball and see where it is running before you receive it. »

“There are different types of players; others wish to play more with the ball, but Darwin prefers to contribute less in this regard. It still offers this racing option; it constantly moves according to my movements, and maybe that’s what I prefer,” Salah explained.

It appears the Uruguayan has fallen out of favor at Anfield. Various English media outlets revealed on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia have expressed interest in Núñez, with the possibility of him leaving the Reds during the upcoming European summer transfer window in July.

Núñez is also attracting interest from several European clubs. However, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will feel forced to accept a loss on the €85 million they paid Benfica for him.

However, what is clear is that Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards, the two key figures in Liverpool’s football department, are already taking steps to find a replacement for the striker.

The pick by Hughes and Edwards to replace Darwin Núñez is Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who currently plays alongside Uruguayans Fernando Muslera and Lucas Torreira at Galatasaray in Turkey.

Osimhen is currently on loan at the Turkish club from Napoli, where he excelled before being forced to move to Türkiye due to a disagreement with Napoli management.

Liverpool’s recruitment team have been impressed with the 26-year-old’s form this season in Turkey, with Osimhen having scored 13 goals and provided five assists in just 16 games for Galatasaray so far this season.
