FC Barcelona triumphed over Athletic Club de Bilbao in the semi-final of the Supercopa de España 2025, held in Saudi Arabia, with goals from Gavi and Lamine Yamal. The Blaugrana thus advance to the final.
In one of the semi-finals of the 2025 Supercopa de España, Barça faced Athletic Club Bilbao at the King Abdullah Sports City, located 30 kilometers north of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The match was intense, with both teams creating dangerous chances; However, it was Barcelona who opened the scoring in the 17th minute thanks to a goal from midfielder Gavi, scoring his first goal in over a year after a serious knee injury.
The Blaugrana advantage highlighted the dominance of Hansi Flick’s men, illustrated by the return to form of winger Lamine Yamal and the chances created by the Brazilian Raphinha, while Athletic struggled to appear threatening, Iñaki Williams being the only one to pose a challenge in the absence of his brother, Nico, and Oihan Sancet.

Notably, 17-year-old winger Lamine Yamal added a second goal in the 52nd minute, skillfully controlling the ball after an excellent pass and finish past goalkeeper Unai Simón.
With just four minutes remaining and Bilbao pushing for an equalizer, the Basques managed to score through Iñaki Williams, but the goal was ruled out for offside after VAR intervention.
Time ran out for Bilbao, allowing Barcelona to secure a 2-0 victory and book their place in the final, where they will face the winner of the other semi-final between Real Madrid and Mallorca, scheduled for tomorrow, on January 12.
