James Rodríguez misses ‘presidential penalty’ during Colombian Kings League match

On Wednesday the 8th, Colombia participated in one of the quarterfinals of the Kings League World Nations, a tournament that features teams from various countries competing in a 7-a-side football format with some rule modifications.

Among these changes is the “presidential penalty”. Each team has a “president”, who can be either an influencer or a professional player, and they can designate this person to take a penalty at any time during the match. The president of Colombia is none other than James Rodríguez.

However, the former São Paulo midfielder missed his opportunity in the quarter-finals. With his characteristic left foot, the player, currently without a club, hit the ball next to the goal but saw the Uzbek goalkeeper save his shot.

Despite their president’s mistake, Colombia maintained a comfortable 3-0 lead, which was extended before the end of the first half. Brazil are also at this stage of the competition, facing Turkey on Thursday 9th.
