The wildfires in Los Angeles have led to the cancellation of several entertainment events, including today’s live SAG nominations.
The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) nominations have canceled an in-person announcement planned for today due to wildfires and devastating winds in the Los Angeles area.
Nominations for the awards for best performances in film and television will be announced via press release rather than at a live event hosted by actors Joey King and Cooper Koch.
The SAG Awards are a reliable indicator of the Oscars for the Actor and Best Picture categories.
High winds that sparked wildfires devastating the mountains and foothills around Los Angeles on Tuesday fueled a spectacle of smoke, flames and leaks.
-Also hit was the seaside enclave of Pacific Palisades, which has long been a celebrity haven and a magnet for those drawn to nature not far from the downtown Los Angeles skyline.
Actor James Woods was among those who posted a video of flames burning on a hillside near his home. “Standing in my driveway, getting ready to evacuate,” Woods said in the short clip on the social platform X. Actor Steve Guttenberg, who also lives in Pacific Palisades, urged people who abandoned their cars to let their keys behind them so that they can be moved to make room for the fire trucks. “It’s not a parking lot,” Guttenberg told KTLA.
The fires have led to the cancellation of several entertainment events, including today’s premiere of the Robbie Williams biopic. better mana premiere of Jennifer Lopez’s film Unstoppable movie and the premiere of Universal Pictures’ upcoming horror film Wolfman.
Kristen Bell will host the 31st SAG ceremony, which will stream live on Netflix on February 23 from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
