Will Joeri J. be tried before a criminal court for possibly killing his wife? The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office wants it.
The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office wants to refer Joeri J. to the criminal court for the murder of his wife Zoë Snoeks, the public prosecutor said on Wednesday, confirming information from the daily Het Nieuwsblad.
The 30-year-old, originally from Meerhout, lost her life in 2021 after falling from a cliff in Houffalize, in the province of Luxembourg. According to the man, it was an accident.
The woman’s fall seemed, at first, to be accidental, but a complaint with civil action was filed in 2022 in Turnhout, in the judicial district of Antwerp.
During the investigation, elements emerged which suggested that the victim had been pushed. Joeri J., however, continues to proclaim his innocence. He said his wife must have slipped while taking photos while he was busy with his dogs. The defendant spent a year in detention before being released in October.
-The case will be brought before the Turnhout council chamber on January 24.
