Devastating flames in the middle of winter. Nearly 30 000 Californians must evacuate in the face of the advance of violent fires, which successively broke out on Tuesday January 7 and Wednesday January 8 around Los Angeles and have already ravaged nearly 2 300 hectares of vegetation (5 660 acres), according to local authorities.
Almost 1 400 firefighters are battling the flames and hundreds more are on the way, California Governor Gavin Newsom said. Many residents evacuated in panic, with just a few belongings and their pets.
