The price of SNCF train tickets will increase from this Wednesday, discover the new prices

LSNCF travelers will have to put their hands in their wallets. From this Wednesday, January 8, train ticket prices will increase, in line with inflation and “to finance its investments”, announced the railway company in a press release published this Tuesday. The increase nevertheless remains quite limited, and will be between 1 and 2% depending on the ticket chosen, compared to 2.6% in 2024 and 5% in 2023.

“From January 8, 2025, ticket prices will change by 1.5% on average, for TGV inOui and Ouigo,” indicates the press release, with the aim of “protecting the purchasing power” of travelers. “This development does not concern the first TGV inOui and Ouigo prices, nor the price of leisure subscriptions, nor the conditions of Avantage cards,” specifies the SNCF.

According to The Parisianthe increase would be less than one euro per ticket. The “first prices” will remain unchanged while only the “maximum prices” will change from “1 to 7 euros” depending on the lines.

Among the TGV inOui and Ouigo tickets, the SNCF assures that half should be sold for less than 47 euros, “all classes and prices combined”, while three out of four high-speed customers will continue to benefit from a reduced rate. On the other hand, the Junior & Cie offer (the support service for young children) is re-evaluated, with an increase of 3 euros on average depending on the destinations and the one-euro package. Finally, the increase will be around 1.9% on average for Intercity trains, a percentage validated by the State.

According to The Parisianthis new increase aims to compensate for the increase in SNCF costs linked to those in toll prices. These rights of way will increase by 3% in 2025, and the railway company has decided to “absorb half”.
