The Galaxy S25 could integrate an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite

Galaxy S25 Ultra Geekbench 6 benchmark results have surfaced, revealing significant changes to the processor. The technical document states that two of the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s cores operate at 4.47 GHz, a notable increase over the standard frequency of 4.32 GHz. The other six cores retain their original speed of 3.53 GHz.

This custom version of the processor could be marked « for Galaxy »following a practice already observed on previous generations of Samsung smartphones. The current scores of the tested prototype remain lower than other devices equipped with the same processor, such as the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro, but these results can be explained by the use of hardware and software in phase of development.

A unified strategy for 2025

Unlike previous years where Samsung alternated between Exynos and Snapdragon processors depending on the market, the Galaxy S25 series could exclusively adopt the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This decision would mark a major change in the manufacturer’s policy, which until now reserved its in-house Exynos processors for certain regions such as Europe.

The model tested has 12 GB of RAM, but a more powerful version with 16 GB could also see the light of day. Final performance should improve significantly thanks to software optimizations that will be made between now and launch.

An imminent presentation

The official presentation of the Galaxy S25 series is expected in January 2025. This new generation should benefit from the advantages of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, notably its 3nm engraving and its Oryon technology, promising an improvement of 45% in processor performance and 40% for the GPU, while reducing power consumption by 27%. The use of an overclocked processor shows that Samsung is capable of maximizing the performance of its future flagships, although these modifications have yet to prove their effectiveness in final tests.
