Like every year, the minimum salary to validate a quarter for retirement has been revalued according to the SMIC. Retirement Insurance thus published a circular on December 23 specifying the “impacts on old age legislation” of the increase in the minimum wage, reports Ouest-. However, the gross hourly minimum wage currently stands at 11.88 euros, so we must now earn at least 1,782 euros gross to validate a quarter and therefore 7,128 euros to validate the four quarters, i.e. an income of 594 euros gross per month on average.

The quarters are validated “depending on the annual amount of your income subject to contributions”as Service-Public.fr specifies. And “since 2014, the minimum income which makes it possible to validate a quarter is equal to the amount of the hourly minimum wage in force on January 1 of the year multiplied by 150 hours». Furthermore, the thresholds have also been increased for self-employed workers. They must now contribute 316 euros to validate one quarter and therefore 1,265 euros to validate the four quarters.
