In a lengthy interview on Hugh Hewitt’s podcast, former President Donald Trump reaffirmed his commitment to Israel while highlighting his record of accomplishments in the Middle East, including the Abraham Accords and the move of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.
“I am the best friend Israel ever had,” Mr. Trump said during the conversation. He highlighted his administration’s achievements, including the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the construction of the US embassy there. “I not only said we were going to do it, I said you know we had it built to have a nice embassy”Mr. Trump said.
The new president-elect, who spoke with Hugh Hewitt, highlighted his role in establishing the Abraham Accords, describing them as one of many ” major events » of his presidency which benefited Israel. “Every thing, every major event that has happened to Israel in the last relatively short period of time has been given through me,” Trump said.

Addressing current tensions in the region, Trump expressed his desire for peace while recognizing the long-standing nature of the conflict. He also issued a stern warning about the American hostages, saying they would be ordered to pay a “hell price” if they were not released by his possible return to power.
When Hewitt asked him about the precise meaning of his warning, Trump explained with characteristic intensity: “If these hostages are not released by the time I take office, it will be hell. I don’t think I need to go into detail…it won’t be the word “don’t”, you know. I heard the word “don’t”, you can add that, but that would only be a small part of the problem…these hostages need to get out. They have to come out now. »
-The interview touched on many aspects of Middle East politics, with Trump repeatedly emphasizing his strong support for Israel and his commitment to achieving peace in the region, noting that conflict persists “longer than people can understand.”
He also said: “I must add that I am also for peace, it is time, this fight has been going on for too long,” noting that he would attempt to end the war between Hamas and Israel that began on October 7, 2023, when thousands of Hamas terrorists massacred some 1,200 Israeli residents and took more than 230 prisoners.
