Tunisia-Libya: denial of proceedings against Abdelhamid Dbeibah | APAnews

A judicial source denied Monday that the head of the Libyan National Unity government, Abdelhamid Dbeibah, would be the subject of prosecution in Tunisia.

The clarification of false rumors regarding prosecutions against the head of the Libyan government comes after the dissemination of information relayed by an electronic site and taken up by several local and international media, according to which the senior Libyan official would have been referred to the criminal chamber specializing in terrorism cases.

In a statement to the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) agency, the source affirmed that the Tunisian public prosecutor confirmed the unfounded nature of this information.

An investigation has been ordered against the site behind the publication, as well as against everyone involved, for “ use of social networks to spread false rumors, violate the rights of others and harm public safety. »

The same source stressed the importance for the media to verify the veracity of information relating to court cases and to obtain it only from reliable sources, in order to avoid the spread of false news.
