Russian player loses cell phone during match

These are often tennis(wo)men who are sometimes caught checking their cell phones in the middle of a match. At the worst of the worst, we have come across football coaches, who rewatch contentious scenes on mobile phones or tablets and thus hope to influence the referee to consult the VAR. The hockey coaches are also live on the screens, to find out if it is appropriate to launch a “challenge”.

On the other hand, it seems rather rare for an ice hockey player to take his cell phone with him during a match. So when, in addition, he takes it on the ice and loses it on the way, it borders on the extremely rare. However, this is what happened to Russian Nikita Dynyak on Monday afternoon during the match between his team Ak Bars Kazan and Nail Yakupov’s Avangard Omsk, which ended with a score of 1- 3.

Not crazy, the Canadian Guy Boucher, coach of the opposing team, asked the match referees to penalize the Bars Kazan player by two minutes, for “non-compliant equipment”. The game directors did not grant his request and simply handed the phone back to its owner when he returned to the bench. Finally, when they finally found him…

“I had placed my phone towards my elbow pads before the match,” explained the player after the match. Then as I was picking them up I turned around and it fell into my shorts. I didn’t feel anything! It’s like a pack of cigarettes… You put them somewhere and forget about them after a while. I came out of the locker room and didn’t realize it at all. It was a funny situation. And maybe a little embarrassing too!
