Gaming tower, supercharged laptop PCs… AMD delights gamers with new processors for every use

With this technical sheet, AMD is proud to announce that this new reference is none other than the most efficient 16-core gaming processor on the market. The firm also mentions a generational performance gain estimated on average at 8% compared to the old Ryzen 9 7950X3D, over more than 40 games.

Faced with Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K “Arrow Lake” this time, the new Ryzen 9 9950X3D is supposed to be 20% faster on average.

This new chip is also good at content creation, with in this case an average improvement of 13% in performance compared to the 7950X3D, over 20 creative applications tested. This gap is also comparable to that promised with respect to certain competing solutions. The Core Ultra 9 285K, again, is thus judged to be 10% slower on average.

Expected in March 2025, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D will arrive on the market at the same time as its little brother the Ryzen 9 9900X3D (12 cores / 24 threads at a maximum of 5.5 GHz, and 140 MB cache).

We finally learn that these new X3D chips under Zen 5 architecture will also arrive in a mobile version. On this point, however, AMD remains quite evasive for the time being. We simply know that these “Fire Range” HX3D mobile processors will materialize on laptops during the first half of 2025, without further details.
