New graphics cards, ultra-powerful processors, AMD seeks to seduce demanding gamers with its announcements

AMD held its conference during CES in Las Vegas. The Reds have thus lifted the veil on their new products, including two processors from the 9000 range. With its CPUs, the brand wants to nail the competition in terms of power. The Ryzen Z2 as well as the RX 9000 graphics cards have also appeared.

CES in Las Vegas is in full swing and AMD obviously took the opportunity to unveil its products for 2025. The brand attacked hard by announcing its two new high-end processors: les Ryzen 9 9950X3D et Ryzen 9 9900X3D.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is the most powerful CPU, with 16 cores and 32 threads (max frequency of 5.7 Ghz with a TPD of 170 Watts). The Ryzen 9 9900X3D is a bit more modest, but still aims for the top of the basket with its technical sheet: 12 cores, 24 threads, max frequency at 5.5 Ghz and TDP at 140 Watts. Both will be available in March 2025. No pricing at this time. The 9950X3D wants to seduce gamers with performance that leaves the previous generation in the retro, as shown in this graph shared by the manufacturer.

AMD pulls out all the stops with its new processors

AMD is not only banking on these two processors, since others have been announced. So, the highly anticipated Ryzen Z2 was presented. It is available in three versions. In order of power: Z2 Extreme, Z2, and Z2 Go. The Extreme version is interesting, since it has 8 cores, mixing Zen 5 and 5c cores. The Z2 offers Z4 cores while the Z2 Go model “makes do” with Zen 3+. The goal? Bringing more performance as well as more autonomy. No further details for the moment. These chips should equip future portable consoles, such as the next ROG Ally or the Lenovo Legion Go.

To finish on the gaming section, the red team highlighted its new graphics cards. Here, work has been done on the naming, in order to simplify things for users. In fact, we go directly to the 9000 series, with the RX 9070 and RX 9070 These cards are based on the RDNA 4 architecture and adopt 4nm engraving. For the rest, no more details, except that they will ship the FSR4. This upscalling technology, which echoes Nvidia’s DLSS, will use AI to improve performance. These two cards will be available in the first quarter of 2025.
