Morocco is preparing to shine on the international stage by participating in the world finals of the Bocuse d’Or, the World Pastry Cup, and the World Caterers Cup. These prestigious competitions will be held at the Salon Sirha in Lyon, from January 23 to 27.
From the continental selections of the Official Chefs Tournament (TOC Africa), organized on September 12 and 13, 2024 in Marrakech under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan teams stand out for their excellence and culinary innovation, like the ’emphasized the organizers in a press release. Three other African nations will also participate in these competitions, following the events organized by the Rahal group, a fervent promoter of Moroccan gastronomy since 2003.
Bocuse d’Or: Moroccan culinary art in the spotlight
During the Bocuse d’Or final, Morocco will be represented by chef Yassine Bogdad, assisted by his assistant Youssef Lamghani and coached by Ahmed Bem Semlali. Under the supervision of Kamal Rahal Essoulami, member of the jury and president of the Moroccan teams, the team will compete from the first day, in box 3. It will offer culinary creations highlighting the riches of the Moroccan region while meeting international requirements. .
The Bocuse d’Or, the world summit of culinary art, brings together the greatest chefs on the planet every two years, putting their creativity, their technical skills and their ability to sublimate products to the test. In 2025, 24 countries will participate in the final after being selected during continental competitions, notably the Bocuse d’Or Africa, which was held in Marrakech in September 2024. Morocco distinguished itself by obtaining first place, ahead of the Mauritius Islands.
World Pastry Cup: Between tradition and innovation
For the final of the World Pastry Cup, the Moroccan team will be composed of Rachid Ouakkas as a member of the jury, Omar Eddib for the sweet creations, Mohamed El Yazidi for the chocolate, and Mohamed Lamraoui for the frozen works. Inspired by the theme “National Heritage”, the team will present frozen desserts, restaurant desserts and artistic pieces made of sugar, chocolate and ice cream, skillfully combining tradition and innovation.
Since its creation in 1989, the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie has highlighted the best talents in the field. For the 2025 edition, 18 countries will participate in the final after having qualified during the continental stages, notably the African Pastry Cup, also organized in Marrakech in September 2024. Morocco, Egypt and Mauritius brilliantly won their place.
Catering World Cup: Moroccan excellence in the art of hosting
The Moroccan team participating in the Caterers’ World Cup will be made up of Mohamed Fadil Ouahhabi, Lahoucine Zaoui and Lahcen Idouakrim. Scheduled for January 23, this demanding competition will highlight refined buffets, dishes and desserts, revealing the values of hospitality and conviviality dear to Moroccan culture.
Organized every two years, the Caterers’ World Cup brings together 12 teams from five continents, each selected during rigorous continental tests. This prestigious competition celebrates the art of fine event gastronomy and values innovation, sustainability and excellence in presentation.
Sirha Lyon: An unmissable event
Sirha Lyon is a major event in the catering, hotel and food sectors. During its previous edition, the show attracted nearly 210,000 professionals from 152 countries, with 4,700 exhibitors and brands presenting their products over an area of 140,000 m². In 2025, this meeting promises to once again be a global showcase of innovation and excellence in the catering professions.
