The Africa Eco Race resumed this Monday after the rest day, with Alessandro Botturi in the spotlight. The Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team rider took victory and built a significant advantage in the standings.
The stage covered just 172 km of timed sections between Dakhla and Benichab, marking the arrival in Mauritania. Botturi completed it in 1h31m45s, beating Pål Anders Ullevålseter (Team Norwit/KTM) by 2m56s. Iarno d’Orsogna (Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team) finished third.
Jacopo Cerutti (Aprilia), who was the leader before this stage, encountered difficulties and fell to 26th place, losing exactly 17 minutes to the fastest rider.
With this performance, Botturi regained the lead of the general classification, having an advantage of 15m30s over Cerutti. Guillaume Borne (Team GBR/Husqvarna) remains third, although Ullevålseter has closed the gap. Francesco Montanari (Aprilia) completes the top five, ahead of Joan Pedrero (Harley Davidson Panamerica).
Tomorrow marks the seventh stage of the Africa Eco Race. Entirely in Mauritania, it links Benichab to Amodjar, covering a total of 392 km of timed section.
